Did the traffic lights go down or something?
Where I am, when the traffic lights go down for whatever reason, people fall back onto driving etiquette and give way to the right and let a few cars out and then go round from there. It works so well that some of our traffic lights are only part time (really busy periods where sometimes the want to get home rules over politeness).

yea, they are messing with one of the poles. T he lights go out and we resort to the ‘you can fuck off’ rule. C ome to think of it, that i s the general state of drivers here.

where i am when the lights are down at a 4 way crossing they send out the traffic smurfs to wave and gesture the traffic
(and to frantically blow their whistles at me when i just shoot across)
(especially fun when me doing it sets of all the other cyclists that were waiting....aaaaah chaos)

Have these people never utilized a 10-way stop before?! It’s simple.
I’m pretty sure a 2-lane roundabout could fit inside this space and help prevent this.

We don’t have enough police to do it and the council won’t send anyone out as there will be fighting over who does it.
We have Carlisle City Council for waste collections , etc... and Cumbria County Council that deal with the roads and lighting for the whole county. So people will phone Carlisle council to do something, they’ll say it’s not their issue and to contact County. If your lucky, Carlisle will phone County to make them aware but it’s usually a few hours before anything is done anyway.
Road etiquette works.

i can practically spit on the coppers regional hq from my back yard.... soo no shortage of them.... tho i do believe they send the councils wannabees out on to crossings to take care of that stuff

We tend to call the council lot, ‘wombles’, from the kids cartoon, and ‘cock-wombles’, if they are foolish or lazy.

At least on FP articles 95% of the time it was used to make a (usually stupid) joke that a bunch of other people had already made. I don’t miss it.
